Director for its Financial Stability and Regulation Programme

Director Financial Stability and Regulation (80 to 100%)

The Geneva Association, the leading international insurance think tank, is looking for a Director
for its Financial Stability and Regulation Programme, a key pillar of the Association’s global
activities. S/he reports directly to the Secretary General and the working language is English.

ACTIVITIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Direct The Geneva Association’s activities in the area of Financial Stability and Regulation,

especially on macro-economic and macro-prudential issues. This will include:

 Co-leading the Financial Stability and Regulation Working Group
 Identifying globally relevant questions of key importance for the insurance industry
and, working with top quality experts from industry and academia, structuring
research initiatives to address them
 Validating hypotheses and outcomes with different stakeholders
 Collaborating with staff, researchers, special advisors/liaison officers to position
the programme and its research externally

  • Build on existing dialogue and maintain relations with the relevant institutions on the topic
    of (macro-prudential) Financial Stability and Regulation; especially the FSB, IMF, and
    relevant insurance policymakers and supervisors

  • Manage and maintain close relationships with economists, government affairs and financial stability experts of The Geneva Association’s Members and stakeholders

  • Brief key stakeholders on important developments in Financial Stability and Regulation, including CEOs

  • Represent The Geneva Association in area of Financial Stability and Regulation at selected international events and meetings, esp. those of the identified institutions

  • Prepare and give interventions on key topics in insurance and finance

  • Organize and oversee The Geneva Association’s events on Financial Stability and
    Regulation from both a management and content perspective (Colloquia, PROGRES
    Seminar, etc.)

REQUIREMENTS

  • Deep understanding of the insurance business model

  • Min 8 years of relevant experience with a policymaking institution and/or insurer

  • University degree in economics or equivalent

  • A track record in publishing on financial stability, macro-economic and/or macro-prudential issues

  • Significant Experience of, and confidence in, dealing with industry leaders, senior policy-
    makers and subject-matter specialists

  • Demonstrable experience of managing research projects of the highest quality on time and to budget

  • Readiness to travel internationally: attend conferences and meetings and make visits to experts in the field.

  • Readiness to cooperate in advancing the development programme of The Geneva

Association, including:

 Help establish strategic goals for the Association
 Develop the Association’s visibility in the field and increase interaction with other
organisations
 Determine and highlight the strategic issues affecting the insurance industry and
especially the interests of the CEOs

  • Fluent English language skills required and additional language(s) a plus
  • Energetic personality
  • Team player
