Intern or thesis student- Surface and corrosion protection (9765) Start early 2017 for 6 months
You support scientific work in our competence area corrosion protection working in our corrosion laboratories. The work has to be planned and executed together with one of our experts. Corrosion protection is key for all consumables especially for outdoor applications. Besides working experimentally you have to evaluate the results using modern metallographic equipment. The results have to be documented in scientific and technical reports.

As intern in our department you’ll be part of the materials research team. You will be working closely with our experts on evaluation of modern materials and corrosion protection coatings as well as on the well-known problematic of hydrogen embrittlement of high strength materials.
The equipment you will be able to operate with is on the one hand side conventional corrosion testing and on the other hand sophisticated characterization equipment up to scanning electron microscopy. You will learn about our worldwide field testing and how the correlation between laboratory testing and the real application is.
