Intern- Development of diamond insert tools

Intern - Development of diamond insert tools

Liechtenstein, Schaan
What's the role?

We are looking for an intern starting in early 2017 for 3-6 months. You will play an important role in developing new technologies for future diamond drilling and sawing.

Who is Hilti?

We provide leading-edge tools, technologies, software and services for the global construction sector. We have a proud heritage, built over 75 years, and a worldwide reputation for pioneering products and first-rate service.

Innovation is our lifeblood, and we create around 30 new products each year. With some 23,000 people in more than 120 countries, we’re a great place for you to showcase your talent as you learn, grow and carve-out your career.

What does the role involve?

As intern in our department you’ll be part of the insert tools development team of business unit diamond, the team responsible for core drills, wall saws and cutting, grinding and slitting equipment. You’ll work closely with our experts to develop the diamond segments, which perform the cutting of materials such as reinforced concrete.

Your key responsibilities will be working self-dependently on subsets of larger development projects that drive the technology for future generations of diamond saw blades and core bits. Your work will require a wide range of approaches, from hands-on drilling or sawing tests, through the assessment of cutting behaviour to in-depth analysis of segment materials and designs.

Last year our team won the Hilti Innovation Prize for a modular design of diamond core bit which has revolutionized diamond drilling, bringing unparalled flexibility, convenience and problem-solving to drilling a wide range of difficult-to-cut materials.
What do we offer?

We’ll give you the tools you need to excel in your internship, including one-to-one coaching. You’ll enjoy a rare combination of autonomy and camaraderie, as you’ll manage your own project while being part of a friendly team.

You’ll not just be another pair of hands but a fully integrated team member with lots of self-responsibility. From there, we’ll trust you to do whatever it takes to deliver outstanding results. Go the extra mile and we’ll reward you with strategic development discussions and career opportunities.

We’ll support you even before you start with us through relocation and integration support. With the international interns community at Hilti you’ll never be bored. Further, the snow-draped mountains, crystal-clear lakes and marvelous landscapes in the Happy Valley invite for lots of outdoor activities.

Why should you apply?

We have an excellent mix of people, which we believe makes for a more vibrant, more innovative, more productive team. So, if you have no knowledge of construction, that’s fine with us. We’re more interested in your ability, commitment and drive to succeed.

What you need is:
  • To be a student in Mechanical Engineering, Materials or related engineering subjects
  • Good knowledge of the English language. Any other language might be of additional benefit, as you will be working in an international team.
  • Interest in hands-on as well as more scientific work
  • A proactive approach and self-reliant personality
  • A strategic approach and good problem-solving skills

We take our time to get to know you. As part of your recruitment process, you’ll get to talk to your internship coach as well as your HR Manager who both can answer some of your burning questions.
