Human Rights programme internship
The Women’s International League for Peace and Freedom (WILPF) is looking for an engaged, organised and bright intern for its Human Rights programme.
Would you like to work with women, peace and security issues? Do you want to experience the UN Human Rights system and see how civil society interacts with it? Do you feel ready to experience the exciting – and sometimes chaotic – life of working in a grassroots organisation with small budgets and big ambitions?
If you answered YESto the questions above, then we want you to be our next Human Rights programme intern.Your tasks
As a member of the dedicated WILPF team, your tasks will be exciting, diverse, and challenging. You will support our Human Rights programme by taking part in the UN Human Rights bodies’ sessions and NGO coordination meetings, and will report on those using your academic knowledge, while promoting our work through our international website, newsletter and social media.
You will also prepare articles for our blog, training materials, working documents and other materials on human rights for publications, and for internal use.
Your tasks will also include interaction and coordination with our National Sections all over the world, providing them with assistance in their participation in Human Rights bodies.
We encourage you to apply if you are interested in Human Rights, and Women’s Rights and Peace issues in particular. The internship is perfect for an energetic, motivated person who wants to discover the world of feminist organisations and activism. The practical stuff
The internship is Geneva-based and will start in mid-November 2016 to last until May 2017. Some 30% of your time will be dedicated to administrative support.
WILPF is part of the charter We Pay Our Interns. The International Secretariat in Geneva provides a cheap accommodation solution upon request or if no accommodation is needed a stipend will be paid to the interns.Requirements
