The Molecular and Biomolecular Analysis Group (MoBiAS) is supporting the research activities at the Department of Chemistry and Applied Biosciences at the ETH Zurich. The group was recently created from the MS-service lab and has the aim to incorporate a wide array of techniques for the analysis and characterisation of organic, inorganic and biological molecules. The facility is currently equipped with high end mass spectrometers with various ionisation methods and a number of open-access instruments.
We are looking for an experienced individual interested in a diverse and innovative work environment to fill the position of
Mass Spectrometry Expert
The responsibilities will include the operation of all mass spectrometers, help measuring routine samples as well as instrument maintenance. Furthermore, as the group is extending its capabilities towards the analysis of biomolecules, the successful candidate will help with the establishment of novel workflows and help evaluating novel technologies.
The candidate will hold a degree from a technical college or university with a strong background in small molecule and/or biological mass spectrometry. Requirements are extensive technical experience in modern mass spectrometry and mass spectrometric data analysis. The candidate should have hands-on experience in tuning, calibrating and maintaining mass spectrometers. A working knowledge in biochemistry or chemistry is beneficial, but not necessary. The candidate should have good communication skills in English. Besides having excellent technical abilities in the field of mass spectrometry, the successful candidate must be an excellent team player and possess the ability to work in a variety of scientific areas.
