The Food Biochemistry Laboratoryof the Department of Health Sciences and Technology of ETH Zurich is seeking a
Laboratory Technician (60-100%)
Affiliated to Prof. Nyström's laboratory, the candidate will contribute to the research addressing food composition and metabolomics of plant based foods with a special focus on their health promoting compounds, by performing chemical analyses, maintaining laboratory instruments (especially GC, HPLC and UPLC, mass spectrometers), and establishing standard operating procedures in collaboration with group members.
The position will be filled from early 2017 for one year with possible prolongation. The laboratory is in the Department of Health Science and Technology, and is located in the ETH Zentrum, Zurich.
A successful candidate should ideally have competed education as a laboratory technician (Federal Certificate of Capacity or similar BSc/MSc) in analytical, clinical, bio-organic and/or food chemistry. Additional knowledge or experience in metabolomics and bioinformatics is favorable. Excellent skills and significant experience in chromatography and mass spectrometry, an ability to perform careful and reproducible experiments, and uphold a high standard in laboratory practices is required. The applicant should be able to learn and apply new techniques, have good communication skills, and be able of working closely with other researchers. Good written and oral skills in English are required.
