Scientific Marketing Specialist, Genedata Profiler™, CH-Basel


The Position

We are looking for a Scientific Marketing Specialist for the Genedata Profiler™ Business Unit to support our successful and expanding business during the next growth phase.

Precision medicine requires scientists to characterize the genomic profile of patients in order to better understand patients’ response to new therapies, to efficiently stratify patients for clinical trials or to identify novel biomarkers for patient monitoring. Genedata enables global research organizations to achieve their vision of precision medicine by leveraging the full power of multi-omic data. Genedata Profiler™, an enterprise software solution for omics profiling of patients, empowers researchers to generate valuable scientific insights, while enabling compliance with increasingly complex data privacy laws and regulatory requirements. 

We are looking for a highly motivated person, with a good scientific background, ideally with experience in the precision medicine or scientific software domains. We are looking for someone who is able to understand and present complex scientific and clinical data issues in a simple and rational way. The role requires excellent marketing execution and business analysis skills with strong capabilities in effectively positioning and promoting products. The individual will work across functions with product management, product development, business development and scientific consulting to position the product in emerging market segments, support the launch of new product versions, conduct market studies and help create effective marketing programs and materials. Our ideal candidate will have strong communication and project coordination skills with an ability to work effectively with others in order to lead and execute on a wide variety of product marketing initiatives.  

This interdisciplinary, multi-faceted position offers an exciting opportunity to support, shape, and promote successful, cutting-edge software systems and processes in highly innovative translational research environments. The position also offers a high level of interactivity and responsibility in a growing company, and the opportunity to work as part of a strong international team.

This position is based at our office in Basel, Switzerland. It requires some travel within Europe.


Key Responsibilities

  • Promoting of our product offerings, including creating messaging and marketing plans
  • Support our business development teams with product expertise, scientific presentations, and software demonstrations
  • Drive and execute marketing and external communication activities, participate in conferences
  • Develop content for marketing collaterals, implement case studies and white papers in collaboration with external customers and Genedata scientific experts; produce media presentations, product overview and datasheets, FAQs, briefs, and webinars
  • Support the refinement of product messages and work out communication strategies to increase brand awareness¸ train sales and support teams on the key messages
  • Implement and distribute press releases
  • Collect and analyze market feedback and industry trends, perform market research, including following academic developments in the field, track and analyze competing products and solutions
  • Support the sales lead generation and qualification process
  • Coordinate launch of new software releases with product management, sales and product development team
  • Write and manage the writing of articles for publications in journals


Your Profile

  • Education: medical, scientific or technical background (MD or MSc/PhD in molecular biology, genetics, bioinformatics or related discipline) with experience working with large data sets and statistical analysis.
  • Since our customers are mainly within biopharmaceutical R&D, a knowledge of the biopharmaceutical research and development process and ideally familiarity with biopharma R&D workflows, translational and clinical research, genomics in clinical trials and precision medicine is a must.
  • The candidate is able to interact productively with scientists, managers, and IT experts both internally and externally. The ability to communicate your message to the audience, regardless of complexity – is an essential skill we are looking for.
  • Experience in preparing marketing/communications/sales materials is a significant advantage. Experience in medical/scientific professional writing is an advantage too.
  • Strong initiative and dedication to quality of work with hands-on mentality
  • Fluency in English is required.
