The R&D Center in Tours (France) is a hub for Plant Sciences and Technologies within Nestlé's R&D network. We develop knowledge about plants to understand how we can improve the quality or our raw materials and the sustainability of their production. We then apply this knowledge to develop tools and approaches for improving our products and the supply of our raw materials
The Center is organized with three scientific departments Plant Molecular Biology, Plant Cell Biology & Breeding and Plant Chemistry & Functionality.
Demonstrating excellent communication skills and leadership capacities , you will be responsible for a portfolio of coffee or cocoa projects, aiming the development of new varieties with improved characteristics.
Manage an integrated project portfolio of Nestlé Strategic crops, breeding and tree propagation with strong collaborative component
Maintain and develop a global network of partners for experimental trials (internal and external partners)
Handle and analyze breeding results in a timely manner
Work in close collaboration with the molecular biology team on marker-assisted selection
Prepare internal and external communication on projects according to the technical progress
Interact efficiently with the business team to leverage the results in an impactful way
Contribute to scientific communication material, patents, and peer-reviewed publications
Education and experience
- MSc degree in Agronomy or equivalent
At least 3-4 years’ experience in breeding perennial crops (fruit growing trees)
Strong knowledge in crop genetic improvement
Knowledge of statistical tools (Access, SAS)
- Fluency in English and good knowledge of Spanish. French is considered and asset.
- Up to 30% travel required
