Our Portfolio Planning and Decision Analysis (PPDA) is seeking a Portfolio Planning Manager. The PPDA team provides Project Teams, the early Strategic Portfolio Committee and our Leadership Team with analyses and recommendations around strategic options and decision-making. This ensures we have the right information to make the best value-based decisions for a strong and balanced portfolio.

As a (Senior) Portfolio Planning Manager you will provide teams with decision analysis and strategic support to ensure alignment with portfolio priorities and advises teams on internal governance processes. You will:

  • Be the Strategy and Portfolio representative for the Neuroscience-Ophthalmology-Rare Disease (NORD) Therapeutic Area leadership team when required
  • Perform project valuations (NPV, RR) including sensitivity and scenario analysis to support development of business cases and decision frameworks for Pharma Research and Early Development (pRED) projects
  • Provide high-quality presentations and documentation for senior management in order to give portfolio context for decision-making
  • Facilitate annual prioritization, goal setting, and business planning processes
  • Partner with Global Project Managers & late stage Pipeline and Portfolio Planning to develop understanding of Roche pipeline across all development stages
  • Support NORD teams for timely and smooth asset transition from early development to late stage

    To be successful you have a PhD in Neuroscience or related field and a MBA. You have at least 4 years of professional experience in portfolio planning in the medical/ pharmaceutical or biotech industry and you possess a deep understanding of early drug development, Phase I & Phase II trials design.

    While your core expertise lies in at least one indication out of Neuroscience, Ophthalmology, or Rare Diseases we’d like you to bring:

    • Skill in integrating and synthesizing findings from multiple sources to enable informed strategic decision-making
    • Knowledge of decision support and data sorting tools such as spreadsheets, decision trees and other analytic frameworks to structure and present complex business challenges
    • Excellent oral communication and presentation skills : you effectively interact with internal partners and senior management
    • Ease in interacting with our senior leaders to provide them with input and support to facilitate decision-making
    • Ability to build and manage relationships across functions to deliver analysis/information in a high quality manner and on time
