The Scientific Information Manager is responsible for the literature monitoring of all Roche medicinal products in the area of drug safety and is a member of the Data Science Pharmacovigilance Service Team in Pharma Research & Early Development Informatics. In this role you will perform ad hoc literature searches in biomedical databases and you are responsible to operate and maintain automated literature search profiles. As a Subject Matter Expert for drug safety literature monitoring you will work closely with Clincal Safety Scientists and global project teams.

 

Your responsibilities

  • Performing ad hoc professional literature searches in biomedical databases such as e.g. Medline and Embase to support identification of Individual Case Safety Reports and signal detection purposes
  • Testing, documenting and maintaining complex literature search and alerting profiles
  • Checking the literature search results for plausibility and ensuring timely and correct delivery of search results
  • Working in a compliance environment with Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and Pharmacovigilance Regulations
  • Interacting and managing relationships with internal customers and external business partners
  • Reviewing and advancing existing procedures with novel technologies and improving workflows in close collaboration with customers
  • Keeping SOPs and business process documents up-to-date
  • Represents the function in a global working group and participating in global projects related to this area

    We are looking for a professional with a University degree or equivalent education and work experience in life science, preferably in the pharmaceutical industry and ideally with experience in drug safety and medical information science.

     

    Further qualifications needed for this position are:

    • Excellent knowledge of bio-medical sciences
    • Experience with hosts and platforms especially ProQuest or STN or other biomedical data sources
    • Experience in post processing and vizualization of search results
    • Very good attention to details, regulations and business processes
    • Basic knowledge and understanding of US and EU pharmacovigilance regulatory requirements
    • Experience in using medical terminologies like MeDRA and MeSH
    • Agility and drive to deliver high quality results
    • Fluent in verbal and written English
    • Excellent communication and presentation skills
    • Computer literacy and familiarity with relevant software and systems
