Job ID 208544BR Position Title Legal Counsel Oncology (50-60%) Division Oncology Business Unit ONCOLOGY Country Switzerland Work Location Rotkreuz Company/Legal Entity Novartis Pharma Schweiz AG Functional Area Legal & Intellectual Property & Compliance Job Type Part Time Employment Type Regular Job Description • Manage local responsibility for legal issues relating to key product(s) & therapeutic area(s) in the Oncology Unit and direct engagement with key clients
• Advise the Oncology Unit on it’s contractual & statutory obligations
• Play an active role in negotiating complex contracts independently
• Support legal positioning on public announcements and promotional material relating to specific products or alliances
• Anticipate and mitigate legal compliance and reputational risk to the country business
• Limit legal entity litigation risk exposure, including risk derived from clinical issues, by working closely with the Head Legal as well as with executives across Business Units, Country, Regional and Global units
• Support management decision processes with robust risk assessments
• report any Adverse Event or Technical Quality Complaint within 24h from the receipt to the DS&E Safety Desk (nps.safetydesk@novartis.com) or Complaint Coordinator (complaints.phchrk@novartis.com) in accordance with the valid local SOPs
• Provide regular legal trainings
Minimum requirements • Master’s degree, Attorney at Law degree from a Swiss University, admission to the Swiss Bar
• 3-5 years post Bar experience preferred; ideally gained with an healthcare / pharmaceutical environment, or alternatively, with a top-tier law firm representing healthcare & technology clients
• Ability to analyse complex legal issues
Near native level of German, fluent in English (written and oral), French is considered an asset
• Strong verbal & written communication skills; together with a high ability to influence and negotiate
• Proven ability to deal positively when working within tight pressures & demanding clients
• Strong experience in handling a high volume of activity involving multiple, often complex projects simultaneously
• Demonstrate professional & culturally sensitive work ethic
