Job ID 214829BR Position Title Digital Medicines Head Division PHARMA Business Unit GPS&C Country Switzerland Work Location Basel Company/Legal Entity Novartis Pharma AG Functional Area Commercial & General Management Job Type Full Time Employment Type Regular Job Description The Novartis Pharma Digital Medicines Head has the overall responsibility to build and develop the Digital Medicines structure, defining a clear digital strategy and ensuring its operationalization. Connect digital strategy to Pharma overall strategy and drive cross divisional (60% pharma and 40% to other divisions) the accelerated digital innovation.
Put an efficient operating model in place to improve coordination of current digital medicines activities in Novartis and lead the primary research with project-specific and audience groups to ensure accurate understanding of needs. Ensure the setup of the infrastructure to accelerate specific business priorities through digital technology. Establish / consolidate key strategic digital partnerships that can propel some of the Pharma key business priorities Ensure commitment from the top and challenge the status quo.
Strategy and Plans
Develop and lead the implementation of the pharma Digital Strategy.
Represent the Digital organization in front of the Digital Medicines Steering Committee (DM SteerCo).
Lead and manage the digital medicines organization
Be informed (have an “eagle view”) of key digital activities happening in the company
Create and update of Digital Medicines key principals and guidelines
Revise and approve partnership proposals. In some cases, be the key point of contact for some strategic deals.
Present business projects as candidates for accelerator lab to the DM SteerCo.
Revise and approve projects outside “Accelerator Labs” that because of its external impact / investment are of high relevance.
Make significant contribution to the Pharma Division mid to long term growth
Ensure that key business priorities are rapidly supported with the right Digital strategy.
Ensure tight digital collaboration between Commercial, Development, Medical and Access to develop a consistent and efficient use of digital
Working with partners to adapt sensors/devices to project-specific needs, Identify channels with high density of users which match project needs and Testing devices and sensors for accuracy when compared to traditional measures
Ensure proper Legal framework: Data Privacy, IP ect
Embed Digital Learning Excellence capabilities External Focus and Relations
Build relationship with key Digital Partners (e.g. Academic partnership, Resource / Capability partnership, Commercial partnership, Technology partnership)
Ensure optimal use of partners and relationship management
Ensure continuous watch and understanding of competitors’ digital strategy / moves
Be the external voice with customers, press. People and Organisation
Build a strong and structured “innovative start-up”-like high performing team
Assemble and strengthen Novartis Digital organization with strong leaders and Digital; Conduct active external hiring of world-class talent
Be responsible for compliance of the Digital Organization
Build and maintain and internal network of dedicated specialized DM experts Minimum requirements University degree with an advanced degree in business and innovation tech. (MBA...)
10+years of Business experience (ideally in health care industry), including 3-5 years digital experience
General management / franchise management, leadership of a team
Experience in start-up as preferred as well as Big Pharma company
Business creation experience strongly preferred
Technology and Innovation experience preferred
