Job ID 215707BR Position Title Digital Medicines Global Commercial Head Division PHARMA Business Unit GPS&C Country Switzerland Work Location Basel Company/Legal Entity Novartis Pharma AG Functional Area Commercial & General Management Job Type Full Time Employment Type Regular Job Description The Digital Medicines Commercial Lead has the responsibility to oversee and coordinate the global commercial digital medicines strategies and activities across franchises within the Pharma Division. Over the next 12 months, main responsibilities are: Support the Digital Medicine head, Franchise Digital Solution Leads, Regional and Country Pharma Organization Digital leads in the definition and implementation of the Global digital medicines strategy
Segment and prioritize commercial business challenges and Digital Medicine areas of focus, including digital tools supporting
o disease diagnosis, disease awareness
o patient identification,
o therapeutic choices,
o treatment access and reimbursement, value demonstration
o treatment compliance and persistence
o communications between HC professionals and patients 
Provide the “commercial voice” to determine initial Digital Acceleration Lab pilots. Perform an initial mapping exercise of internal digital activities. (at Global, Regional and Country Pharma Organisation level) to Identify and start to eliminate waste and duplication 
Establish a close collaboration with the other Digital Leads (Development, Medical Affairs & Patient Access, Business Development) 
Propose a governance process and operating model to ensure future Digital Medicine investments and projects are scalable across the enterprise (solutions should not be limited to a single Country Pharma Organization or franchise,) promote cross-regional and cross-functional communication / coordination and to maximize cross-functional innovation.
Strategy and Plans. In conjunction with the Franchise Digital Solution leads, Region and Country Pharma Organization Digital Leads, sets the digital medicines ** commercial strategy and tactical plans 
From a commercial perspective, defines the key priorities that the Digital Medicine Function and the Digital Acceleration Labs will focus on, 
Ensures that a clear governance and operating model is place which enables o Increased cross-regional and cross-functional transparency, communication and coordination
o Input and feedback on Digital Medicine Function and Digital Acceleration Labs priorities and ensures future Digital Medicine investments and projects are scalable across the enterprise
o Enables operationalization of outputs from the Digital Acceleration Labs and other priority projects
o Enables digital innovation for business priorities through provision of expertise and thought leadership
o Foster innovation and share best practices between Country Pharma Organizations /Regions.
o Strives to avoid unnecessary duplication of digital solutions. Establish a close collaboration with the other Digital Leads (Development, Medical Affairs & Patient Access, Business Development) to maximize coordination, cross-functional innovation and synergies External Focus and Relations 
Constant mapping of new technologies and potential new solutions that can support the business and our winning for the patients strategy 
Ensure optimal relationship with commercial external partners 
Act as ambassador for Novartis Pharma Digital Medicine in external congresses and meetings 
Ensure continuous watch and understanding of competitors’ digital strategy / moves People and Organization 
Establishes the Digital Medicine Function as key partner for commercial, disease area-specific activities 
Institutes own role as “go-to-person” for commercial digital medicines ** activities within the Pharma Division 
Provides guidance and support for reporting lines (dotted) as needed Supports Digital Medicine Head, regions and franchises in hiring and promoting key digital talents 
Proactively supports building digital capabilities across the commercial organization to ensure the effective adoption of the Digital Medicine tools**
Minimum requirements University degree with an advanced degree in business and innovation tech. (MBA...)
English required 
~10yrs of Business experience (ideally in health care industry, ideally in Novartis), preferably in commercial functions, e.g., brand management. Strong medical understanding is a preference 
Exposure to both Country Pharma Organization and Global roles 
~ 3-5 yrs. digital experience related to commercial activities including tangible examples of implementing and scaling digital medicine solutions 
People management and people development experience 
Experience in start-up as preferred as well as Big Pharma company Business creation experience strongly preferred 
Technology and Innovation experience preferred
