Hardware Development Engineer


You will develop and maintain control and power electronics for motion control applications in the domain of kinematic robotics and perform all related engineering activities (analysis, planning, design / implementation and verification) of both application and test systems. This includes design of factory acceptance tests for 3rd party manufacturers as well as for in-house use to verify safe and reliable operation. You are expected to build an understanding of the radiation treatment domain including its safety critical nature.

Main Responsibilities:

 Development and maintenance of control electronics for motion control applications of our positioning systems (kinematic robotics)

 Design, implementation and test of FPGA firmware (VHDL, embedded C)

 Preparation of the project plans as well as the requirements and test specifications

 Creation of test concepts and their realization in collaboration with our control suppliers and development partners

 Support of our internal teams in the area of Production and Product Support


Qualifications & Experience:

 Electrical engineer FH / ETH / University

 Several years of practical experience in circuit development with FPGAs using VHDL and the corresponding toolchains, preferably Xilinx / Actel

 Several years of practical experience in the development of EMI robust analogue and digital circuits for industrial control systems

 Practical experience with drive and control technology, preferably Brushless DC Servo Motor Control and in the development of power electronics.

 Practical experience in the programming of control algorithms and control software in the programming language C / C ++

 Self-initiative, team-oriented and highly independent

 Fluent in German and English
