Global Business Development – Mergers and Acquisitions Leader
The Global Business Development – Mergers and Acquisitions role is a senior position in the Roche Diagnostics Business Development team with full accountability in deal evaluation, deal execution, and deal closure. The position is part of the Roche Diagnostics dedicated M&A team that focus on leading mergers, acquisitions and divestments across diagnostics spectrum from professional, molecular, tissue diagnostics, to next generation sequencing, diabetes care as well as Digital Information Solutions Business Units for the Lab and beyond. The Diagnostics M&A team drives the assessment and identification of external companies for acquisition by Roche and integration into the Diagnostics Division, working closely with the Business Areas and Corporate Finance, the team leads due diligence and negotiation activities of acquisition deals and then works with the Business Areas to ensure a smooth integration process.
Your key activities include:
Lead full spectrum M&A deal generation to execution for Roche Diagnostics, from target identification, landscaping evaluation, financial valuation, to lead cross functional business teams perform due diligence, and lead business transaction negotiation and bring the deal to closure
Lead M&A strategy and external growth process for business areas to drive development and execution of inorganic strategy for the division
Screen and assess high volume of external investment proposals to determine business viability, prepare executive recommendation and implement follow up actions
Working closely with CTO, bio-marker, Medical and Scientific Affair colleagues to scout and secure early engagement, build innovation pipeline and internalize external innovation through various deal types and structures
Besides presenting scientific understanding and in-depth domain knowledge of diagnostics, sequencing and life science industry, you have in-depth understanding of technology trends, market dynamics, customer needs and the competitive landscape. You provide us with an experience record in finance, business strategy, commercial, capital markets, accounting, tax, and corporate law.

Must have a science degree and experience in leading M&A transaction and negotiation, lead deal structure and transaction negotiations working closely with Business Areas, Regions, Corporate Finance & Corporate Legal
Must have strong domain expertise in either Molecular Biology, or Digital Health
Must have, at a minimum, 10 years of experience in Business Development, Consulting or Investment banking with a focus on healthcare preferred, proven ability to work and communicate across a global organization, solid judgment of business targets
Ability to identify business development opportunities through internal and external stakeholder relationships, as well as key issues and potential areas of transaction risks
Have a deep network of internal and external contacts in the investment community
Have the ability to clearly communicate the vision and the merit of a project in order to get stakeholders buy-in
Strong team player, able to lead through influencing - demonstrated leadership qualities with excellent oral and written communication skills
